• Israel occupies the West Bank, home to 3.4 million Palestinians, but all Israeli settlements there have no legal validity and constitute a “flagrant violation” of international law, UN chief António Guterres warned
• 1,122 Palestinians were killed in the occupied West Bank between the start of the Israel-Hamas war on 7 October 2023 and 24 July 2026, including 76 killed this year, according to UN relief agency OCHA reports
• Violence is at an “all-time high” as new settlements are approved while settlers and Israeli security forces have “often” acted together to attack local Palestinian communities, stated the UN’s human rights office last month
• Israeli forces or Israeli settlers have injured at least 37 Palestinians between 28 July and 3 August, and 35 settler attacks were documented, according to OCHA’s latest update
• The attacks continue to affect Palestinian communities across the West Bank, particularly in Ramallah, Nablus and Jerusalem governorates
